Storks Galore

This week we went south to deliver some new beds to sister missionaries and while we were in the area we went to see the seagull feeding in Labrador. These are the biggest seagulls I have ever seen!  The small ones are 3 feet tall and the big ones close to 4 feet tall! They are fed outside a seafood restaurant at 1:30 pm every day. Look at that wing span!  It's at least 4 feet across.  And look at the pelican standing next to the woman sitting down.  He's taller than her sitting!

It was fun to watch and they knew just when to show up for the feeding.  Two seagulls caught the same fish and neither was going to surrender. There's a pond and the ocean there so they run to the water to protect their food. They were fighting it out in the water and even dunking each other under to try and drown the other!  Serious business.

They did this weird thing in anticipation of the feeding.  I can only describe it as "stretching out their bills so they could hold more food"! Look at the seagull in front.  They bend their neck way down and stretch their bill over their body to stretch it out.  When they stand up straight again the bottom of their bill is twice the size of their upper bill. Crazy, right?

This weekend was the Brisbane Luminous Festival--this was our 2nd year attending.  Here are some highlights.

About 10 of us senior missionaries rode the City Cat down to South Bank for the parade.  Hard to believe it was our second time for an annual event!

We will be receiving 3 senior couples this month including our replacements.  They are currently in the MTC.  We're making lists of things we need to do before we leave--work and play lists.  Miss you all but not for long.  Only 4 more Sundays until we get released.  Love you all! 💓
