Windsor, Windsor, Windsor
These are the flats on Windsor Street. We spent a lot of time here last week and will continue to spend even more time here this week! Sister missionaries used to live here but we are now getting it ready for the new nurse and her husband, the Hancocks. They are from Boise, Idaho. She is a nurse and he is a retired commercial airline pilot. It's really interesting to hear about everyone's past careers. They arrive this Wednesday! :D
We don't like the apartment the current nurse is in and so we're closing it down after they leave, They are the Weidmeiers and they leave August 6, 2024. We moved the junior missionaries out of the flat then had it cleaned. Tim and I hauled off a lot of beds and junk left behind. We went through all of the kitchen stuff and donated about half of it. So the way this is going down is that all of the Weidmeier's furniture and kitchen stuff will go to the Hancocks flat BUT the Weidmeiers still need most of it until they leave but they overlap 2 weeks. It's definitely going to be tricky. We're trying to get the flat liveable for the Hancocks for now. Carpets get cleaned tomorrow, Monday, and then we're hitting it full blast with beds, bedding, kitchen stuff, etc.
Our replacements come in 3 weeks! We're still trying to figure out how handing over our flat will go. We've made a list of places we want to go before leaving Down Under.
Senior Council was last Monday. We only have one more to do before we leave. Tim is in charge of them since he is the Sr. Zone Leader. I'm in charge of picking the song and leading it. I also make reservations at The Pineapple, the Piney, where we eat lunch afterwards--it's down the block so we all walk there. It's fun to visit over lunch. It's a hotel, bar and gambling hub. That is where I get my monthly steak dinner! The prices are pretty reasonable: $14 Aussie dollars which is only $8-9 US dollars. We're hoping to turn the next council over to whoever is replacing us as zone leaders.
With Tim's help, I finally got all the leases scanned in to the Church's I.M.O.S. program. Whew! That was quite a job scanning 200 leases and attaching them to the files online! Maybe I can catch up on other things now. We will be training the Hancocks this week so there is always something else we need to do. Plus there are 3 Kmart boxes in the Conference Room waiting for us to take to the mission home and unpack!
Love you all--thanks for taking this journey with us! 😘
