Adventures On Moreton Island and Tangalooma Wrecks
One last adventure with my brother, Richard, before he leaves Friday. We went to Moreton Island on a barge loaded with people and cars! It was a fun day. They sunk several ships here to form a manmade reef. First, we suited up in wetsuits to protect us from the sharp edges of the ships and coral. The fish were amazing--better than the Great Barrier Reef! They fed the fish while we were snorkeling and the fish just ran us over! They were everywhere. We got to see a sea turtle and 2 lion fish! See picture below.
Then it was time to kayak in acrylic kayaks! That was exciting--Tim and I love kayaking and have our own kayaks in Utah. I'm used to kayaking lakes so kayaking in an ocean was a little different! Richard and his kayaking partner capsized 3 times!
After kayaking we had a yummy lunch of wraps with lunch meats and veggies and drinks. Then we all loaded up into a 4-wheelin' bus to go sandboarding. The ride was pretty bumpy and we had to wear seatbelts! I've never had a seatbelt in a bus before. I could have done without the sandboarding but it was interesting that the island had a desert! Our feet sunk with every step which made it very hard to walk. We went up a steep hill so we could slide down on our boards. They said the average number of slides was 2 and the record was 17--had to be some adrenaline junkie young adult, right? All in all a very satisfying day.
We have been working from home for two weeks now but they have only been working on our office for one week. Two more weeks and maybe more. We got a laser printer for home so we could still do our job but the scanner/copy function did not work straight out-of-the-box! After two days of troubleshooting with HP they sent a technician to replace that part of the printer. Now we're ready to roll!
We dropped Richard off at the airport Friday morning and off he went after 3 weeks of Australian and New Zealand adventures. Trip of a lifetime.
We've been out 15 months now with only 3 months left. I connected with the couple that is replacing us. They are from Redlands, California. Should be fun training them.
We got news from our daughter Kris that her daughter, Kayli, was going to be Valedictorian for 9th Grade Graduation! Go Kayli!!!
Love and miss you all.
