Easter, Naya and Other Fun Stuff
Normally, we like to follow the events of Jesus Christ's last week but we were challenged by one of His apostles, Elder Gary A. Stevenson, to celebrate Easter more so this is what we did. I went to the internet to print off some things about Holy Week.
I always hang pictures of Christ's last week up for Easter but this year I included pictures of His ministry in America! We strung a string across the room and hung a banner proclaiming "He is Risen". Then I printed pictures and cut them out in the shape of eggs. The eggs after the banner are all from His ministry in America! This added so much more joy to our celebration! Tim spoke in our old ward, Chermside Ward, and did a great job. He talked about our Easter traditions when our children were growing up including our "Real Meaning of Easter" egg hunt. I hope they remember that. We had the symbols of Easter in 12 different plastic eggs and would talk about them and read scriptures after the hunt.
Also this week was Naya's 2nd birthday on March 29th. She was pretty excited and the kids got to decorate her birthday cake! She our youngest grandchild and is already growing up too fast. Her new move that she is very proud of is balancing on one leg!
Our neighbors, the Wests, went to Canberra, the capitol of Australia and her hometown, for Easter and I get to catsit their cat, Betty. She a charcoal grey tabby with a smashed Persian-ish nose. She's been a friend ever since we got here-- the elders before us befriended her and would let her into the flat! She sleeps all day and goes out all night so not a lot of catsitting there. I love Betty.
Most of the Brissie senior missionaries got together on Easter to eat Hawaiian haystacks leftover from zone conference. I don't usually like to go out at night because I'm too tired but I made the effort and it was fun.
We ended up with all of the girls inside and all of the boys outside! We laughed a lot which was really good for us!
Happy April to my friends and family! Only 4-1/2 more months 'til we wrap it up here in Australia. Love you all!
