Izzy and Koalas
Our granddaughter, Isabel Areia Chacon turned 8 and decided to get baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We are all thrilled that she is now an official member of the Church and that she has made her first covenant with Heavenly Father. Her father, Kevin, baptized her on Saturday, April 13, 2024. For us in Australia that was 1:30 am! We sent a pre-recorded message to her and they played it at her baptism. We are so proud of her. My brother, Richard, was able to attend to represent my family.
Our passes to the Lone Tree Koala Sanctuary were about to expire. This is our favorite place to see koalas and kangaroos. With my brother, Richard, and my daughter, Kris, and her family coming, we decided we better renew for another year even though we'll be leaving in September. My favorite place to go is the Cafe where they keep all the young koalas! We like to go as soon as they open at 9:00 before they get tired of people. :D We can't feed them but we can feed the kangaroos. The first time we went they wouldn't even eat the Roo Food we bought for them because people had been feeding them all morning so we go early now. They have a lot of grey kangaroos, which aren't very tall, and they have just a few red kangaroos which are the ones we usually think of when we think of kangaroos. The get really tall. This little red joey flopped over for a tummy rub! He's the first red joey we've seen.
Also, this week, I got to interpret for the sister missionaries as they taught a woman from Columbia, Ximena. She wants to get baptized and is very special. Her English vocabulary is limited so they asked me to come and help. I enjoyed it immensely.
Here are some random pictures I took this week.
