Oliver Gets Ordained and Back in the Saddle for Us!

Sunday, Monday for us, our only grandson, Olive Nalu Chacon, was ordained a deacon!  It was very emotional for me since he is our only living grandson.  We were all able to join in on Zoom--I am so thankful for technology.  Thank you to his father, Kevin Chacon, for being worthy to ordain his son to the priesthood.  We are very excited for Oliver to help us perform baptisms for the dead!  Congratulations, my baby!

Now that the holidays are over, it's time to get back in the saddle!  This was Week 4 for us and we were busy setting up a granny flat in Mermaid Waters--1 hour and 15 minutes south of us.  First of all, what a cool name for a town, huh?  It's beautiful there and the bishop had a granny flat he wanted to offer the missionaries. It is detached from his house (mansion!) and has two bedrooms.  It's very nice and we were getting it to break up a flat of four sisters that only had 1 bathroom!  I think they will be very happy there.  This is what the neighborhood looks like.  It's on the ocean and has all these man-mad lakes that the houses are built on.  The bishop's back porch is the length of the house and is terraced down to the lake where he has paddle boards, kayaks, boogie boards.  The missionaries are not allowed to swim so hope this area won't be too tempting for them. The bishop said they'd just had a youth activity at his house and had spent the day in the water!

Spent a lot of time at Ikea and Big W shopping for odds and ends.  I pre-order most of it but they are always out of something and we have to go looking somewhere else.  We will have to go back to take them desks because both Ikeas here were out of desks.  We finally bought them Friday and now Tim has to put them together!

Another flat we have going is for the senior sisters.  Tim needed to find a flat for the new couple coming in February, the Perkins.  He will be the Mental Health Advisor.  In the background, the senior sisters have been looking for a 3 bedroom flat for themselves--Tim turned it over to them.  We found a very nice townhouse in a beautiful complex about 1.5 miles from the office.  After we had decided on it, the Perkins requested "very few stairs" which  wasn't going to work with the new townhouse so we gave the senior sisters the new flat and we'll put the Perkins in the sister's flat which is here with us in these flats--very few stairs.  :D  We'll be busy making these changes before Valentine's Day!

Found out this week that some friends from the Gallup New Mexico Stake will be serving a mission here in Australia, Jen and Tim Hine from Grants, NM.  They are going to Adelaide which is south but we are very excited for them!

See you all next week!  Love you!
