Sewing Machines, Busted Toes and Grammy Glo

Spent the week limping around because I sprained my toe!  I was climbing the stairs to our flat, there's only six, but I was very tired and didn't lift my foot up high enough and ended up kicking the step and falling down!  That was Monday.  Didn't show any symptoms until Tuesday night when my toe started cramping and swelling--ug.  All better now so I guess I didn't break it.  Tim "buddy-taped it" to my other toe so I could walk.  Rough week dragging myself around.

The mission has two sewing machines.  One of the senior sisters has one checked out and this is the other one.  It had no power cord so I tracked down a Janome sewing center and bought a cord, machine needles, and some thread.  Then, after one of the sisters did some mending on it she said there was no foot pedal and she had to stop and start with the buttons on the machine.  When she finished I checked it out.  Nearly impossible and definitely cumbersome to use. So, you guessed it, ran down to Janome store and bought a foot pedal!  Works like a dream now.  I don't know how long this machine has been missing parts but it is now restored to its former glory.  I have a lot of mending & alterations to make.

On a sad note, Tim's mother fell and shattered her hip into 7 pieces.  She is 88 years old.  They flew her to Farmington, NM because Albuquerque was full and she ended up at Dave's hospital, San Juan Regional Medical Center!  Laura and Dave have been able to visit her and Ruta and to give Ruta a break, no pun intended.  :D  They operated on Grammy immediately and she's already going through physical therapy.  Hoping the best for her.  Tim's dad passed 7 years ago.

We just finished Week 6 of Transfer 6 so we start over tomorrow.  We have 10 new missionaries coming and then on Tuesday we have missionaries flying down from the Northern Zone so it's gonna be busy!  Love you all!  Have a good week.
