Variety Show

It's July!  I can't believe it.  It is sure hard to keep track of the months here since we are in opposite seasons--it's winter here from June 1 to August 31.  It is still warm here most days, a little chilly in the mornings but it warms up during the day.  Here they call pullover sweaters "jumpers".  Tomorrow is the start of Week 1 in our 6 week mission cycle which means we are receiving goldens (new missionaries). Lots of runs to the airport, trainings, moving beds around, delivering bedding bags and general chaos.  :D  Also, we usually have to house sisters in our flat for the night and feed them dinner and then breakfast the next day.  If they are a companionship where only the golden knows how to drive then we give them "driving in Australia" lessons.  We take them around the neighborhood so they can get used to driving on the left and give them some pointers.  It feels really weird at first and I even got dizzy when we first got here.

Our ward had a party and variety show.  Bishop Wrigley asked me if the senior missionaries could put something together since there were so many of us in his ward--8 plus the mission president and his wife.  The 3 young sister missionaries had already been asked to present as well.  Only one person came up with an idea and it was hilarious--she found it online.  She said he husband would NOT participate unless we did something like the video she found.  We all liked it and I said I'd take care of the music.  Our husbands were our hands so it was hilarious!  Our own arms were the legs. We "danced" to a pop version of Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree!  It was a lot of fun and our bishopric ended the night by lip syncing to Bon Jovi's "Livin' on a Prayer".  It was so great and we were all screaming and singing along.  They were all dressed up like rockers and had long hair wigs on!

We are still setting up 2 flats and traveling a lot to do it.  One of them didn't have closets in the bedrooms so Tim installed this unit from Ikea.  I think we made three trips to Ikea last week!

I was put in charge of bedding and I was assigned by the Mission President's wife to find a smaller bag for bedding.  We went through about 5 different bags before she approved one.  Now I'm on the hunt for a better blanket for the missionaries.  Not a lot of selection out there--they're all so thin.  The bedding bag has to last their entire mission so I hope we chose well!

Love to all!
