The Pineapple and Brissie

Every second Monday of our 6-week transfer schedule we have Senior Council at the Kangaroo Point chapel.  This chapel shares the lot with the Brisbane Australia Temple.  This council is for all of the senior missionaries and senior service missionaries.  Elder Bond is the Senior Zone Leader so he is in charge of these meetings although there is a lesson, discussion and instruction from our mission president as well.  He's doing a great job preparing the lesson, making the agenda, assigning prayers, spiritual thought and music.  I, of course, do the music.  The senior missionaries "up north" join us in a zoom link.  From Brisbane to the top of the mission is a 22 hour drive!

Some of the teachers at the MTC used this YouTube link for our opening song every day.  I tell the Office Missionaries which song I want for Senior Council and they download it then play it on the big tv that we use for our meeting. The pianist plays an introduction and then all of the verses.  There is even an organ option instead of piano accompaniment.  It is pretty cool when you don't have a piano.  The words are all shown on the the screen in a font that is big enough for everyone to see.  It's been a great hit!

After each Senior Council we all walk down the hill 1 block and eat at the Pineapple Hotel.  The food is really good and we get to visit with each other.  It's nice to meet and support each other and discuss common problems.

We went to into the city for another outing this week.  We love catching the train so we don't have to deal with parking.  The train station is only a block from our flat.  We kept seeing pictures of the "BRISBANE" letters but had never seen them.  They are 3 meters high and when we found them at South Bank they were crawling with children! Tim is standing in front of the "N".  The nickname for Brisbane is Brissie.  We bought Tim some aboriginal-native looking ties with money the Kims sent him for Father's Day.  It was a lot of fun!
