When we received our mission call, the first thing I did was look to see if Brisbane had a temple and it did! I was so excited! In fact, it is the newest of all the temples in Australia and it will be 20 years old on June 15th! It is a smaller temple than what we're used to but all temples are glorious, aren't they? We finally felt comfortable with our assignments to venture out to the temple. I'm too tired to go after work on weekdays so we go on Saturdays. Our goal is twice a month. The other senior missionaries actually spend one or two day working in the temple and the temple president had approached us twice about being temple workers. I could do it during the day when I'm fresh.
There is a sidewalk which is about 12 feet wide between the temple and the Kangaroo Point Chapel, KP for short. We have a LOT of meetings at KP so we get to see the temple often. it faces the skyline of Brisbane city that is the header of this blog! I am happier and stronger when I go to the temple.
The senior missionaries like to go out together on Saturdays to tourist attractions. I can't go every week--I need time to rest and regenerate. I can't even make it to 5:00 pm every day at work. Some days I give out earlier than other days depending on what we've been doing. Travelling tuckers me out the most I think but it's fun to see this beautiful country.
